The engagement took place on Sunday evening and it puts to rest all speculation on whether the marriage will happen or not. Close friends of the couple feel that their love has withstood the long, rigorous test of time. Apparently, some of the family members were also against the match but finally all fell into order.
The engagement took place at Amitabh’s residence ‘Jalsa’ in the presence of the couple’s respective family members. Industrialist Anil Ambani and his wife, Tina and another close friend, Karan Johar, were also present at the ceremony. Earlier, the ‘roka’ ceremony was performed at Aishwarya’s house. The wedding is expected to take place in February.
Indeed reports had been flying thick for the past few months that an engagement was in the offing particularly after Aishwarya accompanied Abhishek and his family to perform rituals at a reverend Varanasi temple. In fact, it was being whispered that the couple had exchanged marriage vows at the temple and the wedding was only an announcement away. Last February, Amitabh’s brother Ajitabh had met a Bangalore-based astrologer with the horoscopes of Aishwarya and Abhishek. It seems now that marriage will take place as soon as possible since Abhishek’s ailing grandmother Teji is keen to see her beloved grandson married.
Stay tuned for more nuptial updates from the couple’s end!
